Karma - are we in control of it?

Thinking is the real Karma. It materialises and becomes an action.

If you allow the mind to dwell on elevating thoughts, you will develop noble character. If you entertain negative thoughts, you will develop a base character.

You saw an action and reap the habit. You saw a habit and reap a character. You was a character and reap a destiny. Destiny is of your own making. Your Karma is in your hands!

The Way to Success

'Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.'
Swami Vivekananda

The Influences on Man's Freedom of Action

'... Environment is stronger then willpower. If you want to be spiritual, seek good company and don't mix with those whose bad habits may wrongly influence you.' Sri Sri Paramanahsa Yogananda

Beautiful Truth Within Yourself

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” – Buddha

Why practice Yoga?

Our bodies are naturally going through a cycle of birth, growth, change, decay and death.

The growth period is up to age of 18-20, this is when the rate our cells rejuvenate is higher then the rate our cells decay. Between the age of 20 to the age of around 35, our bodies maintain equal proportion of producing new cells and destroying old ones. After the age of 35, the decaying of cells takes precedence and our bodies start encountering illness and despair.

The Yogic philosophy says that we are not simply born to be subject to suffering, disease and death - there is much greater purpose to life. However the spiritual search of life's purpose requires keen intellect and strong will - and these are products of healthy body and mind.

The integral system that was developed to keep the physical and mental bodies strong is Yoga and the main elements include:

Proper Exercise - Asana

Proper Breathing - Pranayama

Proper Relaxation - Savasana

Proper Diet - Vegetarian

Positive Thinking and Meditation - Vedanta and Dhyana

In the coming days we will be looking into each of these aspects and discuss them in details.
